France wait on injured trio

EDINBURGH – France coach Marc Lievremont yesterday revealed that three of his players would require medical examinations following the 18-9 victory over Scotland in their Six Nations opener here.

Aurelien Rougerie, Benjamin Fall and Luc Ducalcon will all undergo tests following the squad’s return to Paris on Monday afternoon, as Lievremont looks to keep the same group intact for the meeting with Ireland next Saturday.
“The squad of 23 players has been retained despite some doubts,” said Lievremont. “We’ll know more about it this (Monday) evening.”
The French coaching team revealed in the aftermath of Sunday’s match that wing Rougerie, replaced by Vincent Clerc in the fifth minute following run-ins with Scottish forwards Kelly Brown and Johnnie Beattie, had sprained his neck.
The starting XV for the clash with defending champions Ireland at the Stade de France will be announced at France’s Marcoussis training centre on Wednesday.
