Khomas Nampol and SKW are volleyball club champs
THE Khomas Nampol (KNVC) volleyball men and SKW women successfully defended their club championships titles in Windhoek recently.
SKW won the tournament after winning all four of their games in the group stage, while Khomas Nampol took silver in the women’s section.
The Namibia Defence Force (NDF) came third. There was no semi-final in this category as there were only five teams that participated.
Khomas Nampol defended their title proudly by beating SKW 3:2 in a close match in the men’s final.
SKW won the first set 25:21 KNVC come back to win two consecutive sets 25:16 and 25:23 and SKW won the 4th set 25:2.
That equalled the game and a deciding set have to be played which KNVC won 15:10 to claim their title for two consecutive years.
Elegance VC were third after beating Eleven Warriors in the playoff for third place. This tournament was the last on the for the volleyball calendar this season, with the 2010 season set to start in February with a season-opening tournament in Windhoek.
Meanwhile, the SKW women’s side enjoyed their best season ever by firstly winning the NFV League and secondly wiping out their opponents at the NVF Cup without losing a single set. They also won the NVF club championships for the second time in a row and played 21 games with 63 sets this season and lost only eight.
