Big Brother Africa: Murder In The All Stars House!
By: NATASHA UYSTHINK old Hollywood glamour, beautiful black and white cinematography, dark smoky bars, dubious alibis, unsavoury characters and vulnerable femme fatales.
It may be 2010 out here in the real world, but in Biggie’s world it’s 1940 again as both the All Stars and the Barnmates go back into time for this week’s Murder Mystery task.
Get ready for one hell-uva sexy whodunnit! As only the BBA All Stars can do it.
As a bunch of creative people, it should be a blast for the housemates, especially when it comes to putting on an act.
Displaying the best of their acting skills and shining in all their glory, they must put on a movie or play production titled ‘Falcon’s Last Flight’.
Passion, power, revenge and ... murder characterise the story in which Uti and Jen have managed to snatch the lead roles.
Snatch is right. It was something of a struggle to get Munya to back down. Mr Man, of course, wanted to play the lead role of Ray Falcon and it was a loooong ‘debate’ before he let go of that dream, probably figuring if he couldn’t bag the lead, at least he could assume control and take the reigns in the director’s seat.
Even Jen, who’s had exactly zero acting experience in the past, was adamant that she was the woman to play Amber, the woman so beautiful she made men stare and women scream.
The play/film starts as Amber enters the office of Ray Falcon, the handsome but hard-boiled private detective with a questionable moral compass, to ask him to solve a murder.
Suspicion, jealousy, alienation ... It’s all in a day’s work for these housemates who have quickly gotten to grips with the script and the technicalities of the film noir genre.
The entire film/play is to be acted out in silhouette, behind a screen with low lighting, showing the audience only a shadowy outline of all the action but enhanced by the sound effects, which are to be acted out by a Foley Operator.
Think the clickety-clack of a pair of sexy stilettos, or the hollow echo of a steely gun shot.
BACK AT THE BARN
Barnmates seem to be faring better, than the All Stars at deciding who will take on which roles.
Or perhaps Tatiana simply has less competition for the role of the sexy, yet dangerous female lead. Having little trouble bagging Amber’s femme fatale role, Tatiana will star opposite Code.
While these types of films are usually driven by jealousy and passion, romance is also an integral part of the film genre.
So the kissing scene which seems to have grossed Tatiana out somewhat is par for the course.
Why Flirtiana, who besides having kissed Code on some previous occasion, has kissed quite a few of the other boys, should have a problem with the cinematic kiss is beyond me.
At least this one she will be able to write off as an acting kiss, how she’ll explain the rest to her poor boyfriend, Oliver – only the two of them will be able to tell us.
Code, ever the level-headed one, pointed out to Tatiana that they had kissed before and questioned how this kiss would be any different from the first.
Taking his craft ever so seriously, the wannabe thespian advised her to ‘fake it ’till you make it’!
CHARACTER COMPARISONS
Talking about her character, Tatiana described Amber, unaware that she was unwittingly drawing some definite parallels between Amber and herself.
“This Amber lady is very confused but very determined at the same time.”
This had Lerato cackling like a witch in the shower, cursing Tatiana with a long list of nasty adjectives, and a couple of nouns!
The All Stars have settled on a 75 per cent wager, although if it were up to Uti and Munya – who both have some previous experience in the entertainment industry – it would have been 100 per cent all the way.
Kaone and Paloma weren’t too sure about that and expressed concern because of their limited acting experience.
However, Meryl, as this week’s HoH, took control of the situation and without hesitation declared to Biggie that 75 per cent it would be.
Barnmates too, as has become the norm, decided to wager 75 per cent. Day two of the task saw Biggie delivering some props and wardrobe supplies, allowing them to start getting into character.
Watch out for their task presentation this evening, and remember that this week Paloma and Mwisho are up for eviction.
Vote for the housemate you wish to save and see staying in the house.
