Melting metal and art at Omba

Four artist have come together to create ‘Metalmorphoses’, a group exhibition of four well known Namibian designers and artisans.

Hanno Becker, an artist blacksmith, specialising in individualised designs for functional aesthetic metal work; Chakirra Claasen, a fashion designer who loves to explore the feminine contours of the female shape; Attila Giersch a goldsmith by profession and Sylvia von Kuehne, goldsmith and jewellery designer, will each present their transformation of metal into art with the result being inventive, practical and beautiful forms.
This special group of designers come from different professional backgrounds, hence the variety of materials and techniques used. This includes forged iron décor items, over dimensional jewellery art from copper and brass, aluminium designs on colourful canvases and iron oxide art on fabrics.
For the artists having created something out of their ordinary day to day productions was a challenging and interesting journey, that will guarantee to surprise its audience and open new perspectives.
The exhibition will open on the Tuesday, September 25, at the Omba Gallery at 18h30 and will continue until Thursday, October 11.
