Two men accused of killing guard plead not guilty

TWO young men accused of killing a security guard at the Ngepi Camp in the Kavango Region on Sunday pleaded not guilty to charges of murder and robbery with aggravating circumstances when they appeared in the Rundu Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

The two – Kandjeke Muhoka (21) and Mathews Ihemba (19) – were arrested on Tuesday at Divayi village.
After being informed of their right to engage legal representation of their choice, the suspects indicated that they would conduct their own defence.
Rundu Magistrate Victor Nyazo then postponed the case to October 8 for further police investigation.
The accused were remanded in custody until then.
The guard at the tourist camp, situated 220 km east of Rundu, was stabbed several times with an unknown sharp object before his arms and legs were tied together.
After attacking the security guard, the perpetrators broke into the camp office and stole money and other items worth N$7 000.
Detective Inspector Chrispin Mubebo said earlier that the two suspects both used to work at Ngepi Camp and were fired for alleged theft. – Nampa
