Yearning For An Anti-Capitalist Leader

ACCORDING to Namibian history school books, the Namibian government, which is administered by the Swapo Party, has a mixed-economy policy. This is a combination of capitalism and socialism, similar to the Zambian Humanism system from 1964 to1991.

However, the so-called mixed economy policy of our government remains to be seen in action. What matters most to them is buying new Mercedes Benz automobiles (maybe they even customize them with spinning rims, sound speakers and leather seats, at the taxpayer’s expense) and getting a 15 to 30 percent increase on their salaries.

It seems they only care about getting their own assets, rather than serving the nation. They get richer and we get poorer. That sounds very capitalist.

To make matters worse, they are using the taxpayer’s funds for their own enrichment. No offence meant, but it seems most African leaders are concerned with money and power for their own sake only. They do not care about the interests of their nations. Yet they claim to be patriotic.

When will we have a genuine anti-capitalist leader? A leader who has less interest in his/her payslip and pays more attention to the challenges the nation faces?
