Set Aside Tribal Agenda

DEAR Editor, please allow me to share some of my observations during the recent elections which took place in Kenya where the citizens of this country elected their new President for the next five years, Uhuru Kenyatta.

I will not touch on the issue of free and fair elections. That will be dealt with by those who feel that these elections were rigged or not transparent and need to be proven in the supreme court of Kenya by those who claim so. The subject matter here is that the Kenyan people this time have not voted along tribal lines but on the social bread-and-butter issues that affect them daily, irrespective of what tribe and from which part of the country they are. As Namibians we should take this very good example that has been set by the Kenyans to rally behind those who we think can bring change in this Land of the Brave and not to play the tribal card to discredit those who can do better for this country.
In conclusion I would urge each Namibian to set aside the tribal agenda and to move forward and build this motherland Namibia for today and for the generations to come. In a few days we will celebrate our 23 years of self-determination, but we should also ask ourselves what did we as individuals and as a nation achieve?
