Once again the Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration is playing the blame game and creating smokescreens for its failure to process passports on time. Minister Pendukeni Iivula-Ithana, Namibians have a right to get a passport on time even if they do not intend to travel. It’s not a waste of money. Actually, it’s a wise thing to do because you never know when the opportunity to travel abroad comes. It’s better to have one’s passport ready than to encounter your well-known frustrating service.
It is baffling and ignorant to hear you say Namibians should not apply for passports so that queues can be shorter. Really? It looks like you have no long-term solution to the home affairs issues. Also, criminal passport syndicates between Namibians and foreigners have nothing to do with service delivery. That is a separate issue for you to solve. It’s not an excuse for your failure to deliver on time or lose applications. Are you going to deny Namibians getting their passports on time just because there is a syndicate?
