Nothing For Us, All For Them

NAMIBIANS, this must be prevented. We must stand up and show the powers that-be that the suggested increase for elected politicians and their appointees is morally wrong, totally unfair.

The few solitary SMSes condemning the proposed increase must turn into a flood. We must voice our opinion in the open. This must be the topic spoken about the most. Use all channels available to let it be known that such great injustice will further decay the little bit of trust we still have left in our politicians.
Up to now, we actually have allowed our leaders to do as they please - which is basically nothing for us and everything for themselves - but should there not come a time when we must ask them to justify the decisions they take? They are, after all, taking them in our name. How much does a loaf of bread cost? Does it not cost the same for someone who earns N$40,000 a month, as well as for one who earns N$2,000 a month? How much money does one honestly need in order to be able to pay for housing, buy food and clothes, send your children to school, pay for transport, healthcare, pension etc?
I believe that N$60,000, N$80,000, N$100,000 a month has nothing to do with reality anymore. If the President gives his ok to these proposals, I for one will have lost all my faith in our leaders, but I will still not tire of letting them know that.
