But there are colleges operating in Namibia which do not meet NQA [Namibia Qualifications Authority] standards. I called them fly-by-night institutions. These fly-by-night institutions claim to be offering tutorials to Namcol students, using Namcol study materials and telling their clients to register with Namcol.
The fly-by-night institutions charge their clients exorbitant fees and in return they offer a notepad and a pen for the whole year.
If these fly-by-night institutions were so well equipped, why don’t they have their own study materials and register their own clients? A fly-by-night institution normally vanishes after it has reached its target profit.
I urge parliament to protect their own law that led to the establishment of Namcol. But most importantly, Namcol students must have faith in Namcol institution. Namcol is an academic excellence institution that offers scholarship and variety of economic tailored programmes to deserving citizens. Namcol is geographically spread to serve the masses countrywide unlike these flyby night institutions.
