‘Mbwitis’ As New Namibians

I AGREE with the SMS that said the only people who are not tribalists are the so-called ‘mbwitis’ and those who learned to treat others with dignity, irrespective of their clan or tribe.

Namibians should really learn from those people. Namibian must look to any ‘mbwiti’ and notice that when they occupy any position of high authority they will never associate themselves with individuals but rather make sure that all are served.
Let us applaud that observation and learn something out of it. Let us be united for one purpose to build this country and not destroy it.
What explanation are we to give to the next generation, when simple positions are occupied by people from afar instead of empowering our fellow Namibians. The simple reason is because we are divided by tribal connotation and therefore we prefer our ‘neighbours’.
I am not being xenophobic, but would like to illustrate the depth of tribalism in Namibia and how costly and detrimental it is.
Many Namibians might not see the link but that is the reality on the ground.
For instance, how many chartered accountants, nurses and doctors do we have in Namibia who are not recognised in this country or not employed in strategic positions, but Namibia would recruit people from afar in strategic positions without experience.
How did we run this country before independence? What value did most of these people add to the Namibian economy or population to benefit.
I am aware that in the past Namibians might have not had obtained qualifications in some areas, but we have gained good experience in many areas to earn us jobs, yet our experiences are overlooked.
I learnt that in life no person can take away someone’s experience, but a qualification is something one can always pick it up later in life anyway.
Namibians please wake up, let’s respect ourselves and recognise the potential available irrespective of origin, tribe, colour, gender, politics, religious, age etc.
Let us unite as from 2013. We can still catch up with time to re-strategise the best for Namibians.
