IT IS a fact that Namibia has abundant resources able to provide an economic surplus but our spending causes a deficit.

Therefore, we have to overhaul both private and public sectors. Education and the health systems including all other services must be equal throughout the entire country. For instance all Grade 12 results must be released at the same time. Let us avoid huge inequality, government financial deficit, high unemployment and widespread abject poverty. The prime focus must be on implementation. Even bankrupt parastatals still pay their top management high salaries whilst being bailed out by the state. Millions of dollars are still lost through dubious deals. Foreign investors seize these opportunities and take advantage to make quick cash from Namibia. Our fiscal situation is worrisome and may have unprecedented negative impact such as strikes, crimes and further unrests. The western countries have already embarked upon major changes to curb their escalating deficits. Please let us follow suit. Cut spending, hefty bonuses and excessive salaries laden with endless fringe benefits. Impose stringent control on non-performing parastatals. Save more funds and avail these to national and capital projects to create and diversify job opportunities.
