Fairy Circles Remain ‘Fairy’

THIS is with reference to the article as printed in The Namibian newspaper on 4 April 2013 ‘The secret of Namib’s fairy circles uncovered’.

We found this headline to be misleading as the mystery is by no means conclusively solved. Several other scientists such as Dr Walter Tschinkel (Florida State University) and Dr Michael Cramer (University of Cape Town), who have been working on Fairy Circles on NamibRand, are also not convinced. We are actually quite pleased that there is something out there in Nature that can’t conclusively be explained. Long live the fairies!
