Another Hitler-Like Project?

EIGHTY years ago, Adolf Hitler had a dream; to conquer the whole of Europe if not the whole world and bring it under his rule, thus creating what could have been known as the German empire, similar to the Ottoman Empire although different in size.

Hitler was well aware of the magnitude of his project. So, he embarked on a rigorous re-armament programme to rebuild and strengthen the German army in order to achieve his aims. Britain and France tried hard to persuade Hitler with the appeasement policy hoping to prevent another holocaust similar to that of World War I but all in vain. Hitler was determined to achieve his aims. His invasion of Poland in 1939 led to the outbreak of World War II which resulted in death and destruction and eventually the demise of Hitler himself.
Like Hitler, the US has followed suit. In the name of capitalism and hegemony, the USA in the late 20th century embarked upon a rigorous agenda to conquer the rest of the world and create what is termed as the American Empire. They believe that a demonstration of military might, propaganda and media disinformation were crucial factors to Americans achieving their dream and they are doing just that. Even when peace-loving nations campaign for peaceful relations among nations of the world and respect for the sovereignty of states; threatening to use maximum force in retaliation to the invasion of their territories, the US appears to turn a blind eye to all these. Today the US owns Israel, Jordan, Libya, Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait and South Korea, to mention but a few. The next victims of the US aggressive foreign policy are Iran, North Korea, Syria and eventually China and Russia before turning the blade on the rest of the world. The question is; will the US today achieve what Hitler failed to achieve about 70 years ago? I don’t know, all I know is that respect for the rights and dignity of persons and the sovereignty of nation states are ingredients of peace and harmony in the world, not nuclear weapons.
When we open pages of history, we are taught that governments which take power from legitimate governments by force are more likely to become dictatorships. What is your wish my brethren? Is it to see this world slip under the rule of a single dictator or to see the sovereignty and independence of nation states flourish? It is my prayer day and night that God must save this world from another holocaust of nuclear war just in the name of greed and hegemony.

* It is fair to criticise the US for many things, including its imperialist agenda. But is it not factual and might be pushing the argument to baseless extremes to compare it to Nazi Germany, Hitler, Holocaust and genocide. – Editor
