Until It Was Me

I’M sitting here wondering what my professional future will be.

I have just learnt the hard way that what people say about our attitudes and behaviour at state hospitals is true.
I am a nurse and I have been mistreated and neglected by people I work with. They totally ignored my condition after I was diagnosed with corneal ulcer. Luckily I have medical aid and was rushed to a private doctor who helped me promptly. The question is, what about those who can’t afford private medical services? I’m still shocked and scared. I am in severe pain but afraid of even going to the hospital in Katima. I’ll only set my foot there for work when I heal, God willing.
I don’t think I will continue to be a nurse. I am so disappointed. I loved this work. If I’m hired by a private hospital then I’ll continue. Please let’s change.
