Your article ‘Dumped baby rescued’ (18 September 2012) has reference. What is the moral of this story? In the absence of legislation for children, mothers who have no hope are criticised and judged for their actions.
After several similar incidents the media tries to make headlines and City of Windhoek wants to catch the limelight. When will the Ministry of Gender Equality start applying ‘thinking’ skills and deliver? Will Namibia criticise and judge mothers forever?
Do something about the needs and the outcry of mothers! Unemployment is the root cause of all these evils. Bureaucracy, or shall I call it autocracy, prohibits those in power from being pro-active to avoid such instances from occurring in the first place.
Kindly deal with young children sensitively and do not publish them on your front pages. They cannot be blamed for the actions of their government or mothers.
