Is Napwu Still Real?

NAMIBIANS, we need to stand up and stop people who want to serve their own interests at the expense of the entire nation.

Peter/Petrus Nevonga (General Secretary of the Namibia Public Workers’ Union, Napwu) was part of those who were implicated in the GIPF [Government Institutions Pension Fund] saga yet he was re-elected at the Napwu congress. Is it because we have no other people to serve Napwu in leadership positions or is it simply a matter of defending existing leaders?

If we are serious with anti-corruption then let us change the gears. I personally expected Namibians and most importantly the Napwu delegates to show the world that we are anti-corruption. But instead they chased way the secretary general of the federation from being part of their congress simply because he was seen as a threat to the regime of Nevonga and others.

How legal was this congress, one might ask. If Nevonga had nothing to hide why then did he chase away his boss at the federation level? The millions have disappeared into thin air and yet Namibians with clear minds continue to elect these leaders.

Napwu, you have lost vision and focus. I call on the ruling party to seriously call Nevonga and company to order and deprive them of leadership positions as far as possible. People like them do not deserve to be members of the mighty Swapo party.

The Napwu congress should be declared unconstitutional and a new congress under the supervision of the federation should be urgently called.

As we read in the media prior to the congress, the invitation was purposefully and carefully done to favour a man who has done so much damage to the union and its members.

I am really disturbed by the issue and want people to wake up when we are dealing with national issues.
