It is really disturbing to read that 22 years after independence there are some people who rightfully claim original citizenship of this country but yet are still classified as second-class citizens.
Going back to the history of Africa the San people hold a very rich and interesting history. These people have been subjected to bitter conditions in Africa, including Namibia, yet they are an integral part of the rich history and culture of Namibia.
It is important that we acknowledge them and place them in our utmost care considering their dwindling numbers, as we all know that they have reduced in numbers due to the fact that there are only 25000 remaining.
If it is a proper way of addressing them, please correct if I am wrong to say that they are ‘endangered’ in the country and their reproductive conditions need to be enhanced.
They are people just like we all are and deserve the same protection from the members of the police force. Why wouldn’t there be a proper investigation and arrest of the perpetrator who repugnantly assaulted this victim who has gone through unbearable trauma, pain and financial distress to the point of writing off his employability. His health has been tampered with at the hands of another citizen.
In fact this perpetrator should see to it that the health of this Namibian citizen is taken care of and have him on a salary scheme for the rest of his life because he has put him in the condition where he is not employable anymore.
You cannot tell the public that the police forces are failing to bring the perpetrator to book when his roots are traceable.
It goes to tell us the public that we are not safe and yet the country has at least a ratio of 1:5 police officers to civilians.
Let me also remind you that the San people of Namibia have a greater contribution to one of the economic strongholds in the country, tourism.
Thus there is no way they should be treated as second class citizens despite them being equal by virtue of being human beings and Namibians. Ministry of Safety and Security please see to it that this heartless perpetrator is brought to book and justice prevails. We are getting worried.
