Stop The Bullying

TWO comments or questions need answers from the Minister of Education!

We have a school named Oheti where Grade 5 children have not had lessons since the August holiday. Their class teacher went for maternity leave and our kids are now sitting at home, because they have no one to teach them.
Minister, what happened? Is the system of employing casual teachers removed? This school is under Eenhana circuit. As parents who pay for our children’s schooling we are not happy with this. Are our children treated like this because they are very young or what?
The second issue is about bullying. Does the bullying system still exist in Ohangwena secondary schools? If you listened to news on Friday last week (October 20, 2012), Haimbili Haufiku Senior Secondary School class windows were broken after Grade 12 learners finished their last examination papers.
What is wrong with our children and what is the Ministry of Safety and Security doing about this? I humbly request schools management that if they find strangers in their schools, please send those students home because they are badly influencing others.
I met a boy of 19 years old who attends school at Mwadikange and he had been bullied the whole year. The gang who bullied him is made up of students in Grade 12 and they are all friends. l understand one of those gang members was trying to stab him with a knife; luckily he was saved by other school learners.
Please Minister Abraham Iyambo l beg you to introduce a new system in schools, because this bullied child left school now to stay at home as he was afraid of the gang. Those misbehaving must just be shown the red card to leave schools or even be imprisoned as they are threatening our children.
The children enter schools for studying purposes only, but not to threaten others.
Those grown ups in Grade 12 must just be told to stay at their parents’ houses, rather than stay at school to disturb those who come with aspirations to have a better future.
