History repeats itself: all rulers start off by changing names of every conceivable item of significance, ranging from street names, national projects such as “Epangelo, Xupifa Eemwenyo Road Safety Campaign” to names of vessels and fire stations like the Namulemo fire station in Swakopmund.
The new fire station in Walvis Bay is another case in point. Even a telephone call to Telecom confirms this. “Press 1 for English, 2 for Oshiwambo ...”
How many other languages and heroes from different language backgrounds do we have in Namibia? Is the above not an obvious advancement of one language group over others?
