On Sports Development

I WOULD like to believe that in Namibia we do have an allocated budget for different sport codes.

But why is it that we don’t really see the results of sports in the country. We don’t even see sports development in the country. Who should be held accountable for this?
For instance when one thinks about the Brave Worriers I can’t help but wonder whether in my lifetime I will ever get an opportunity to see them play in the World Cup.
Let me just not talk about the problem but offer a tangible solution as well. I think the issue lies in the management of these different sport codes. For instance for soccer, one would imagine that the solution would be in establishing the right structures with regards to soccer, where you would have soccer development at school level up to tertiary levels.
Why can’t we have decent national primary and secondary schools soccer leagues, a national tertiary soccer league from which we would be able to draft players for the national team?
And as part of soccer development you would have health and fitness as one of your primary goals. If you look at Namibia competing against other countries the issue of fitness often becomes obvious to see. Please let’s do something to ensure that we at least see Namibia represented in the 2018 World Cup.
