In the article on that teachers will not be able to receive any increments in the next three months; she inferred that we are taking money allocated for roads and health projects. It was a very cheap shot to imply that teachers are taking money earmarked for roads and hospitals.
The remark reeks of poor judgment and implies that teachers are selfish in asking for a raise. We are in fact asking what’s rightfully ours, having waited patiently for long.
In fact, why did government not make provisions to raise teachers’ salaries to at least be on par with inflation and the general living standards?
In fact, Kuugongelwa-Amadhila’s inability to plan properly is the reason why health services and roads are in poor conditions.
I suggest when planning the budget for the next fiscal year, that you take money from yourself and your ministers [take a pay cut] and use that to fund health and roads or even the salary increase of teachers.
You and other ministers shamelessly take and abuse fringe benefits of housing and car allowance in thousands of dollars and whatever else allowances, swimming in luxury.
I condemn your cheap and thoughtless remark in the strongest sense of the word.
