Several times, I have listened to officials of this commission over the radio stations trying to disseminate information on how the commission works. However, I have observed that the way they explain is not the way they do their business.
I happened to report a clear case to them. This case was about favouritism and nepotism, destroying of my official documents in order to make it easy for the favoured candidates to go through. I provided the names of the people involved but I was disappointed to hear the official asking me to prove my argument.
It is a pity that whenever we report nepotism within the government departments, the ACC does not take it seriously. But they must realise that we as poor people will forever remain poor since only those connected to top officials are benefiting from government programmes.
What is the use of having the ACC if it cannot take actions, why it should refer state cases to the same department where the transgression is committed instead of taking action?
ACC should clean the government of corruption; we poor people are suffering from being discriminated against for not relating to those in administration power. ACC must stop beating around the bush while the case is straightforward.
I suggest that State House must come up with a hotline so that we can report directly to our President. Instead, the ACC is just one of the employment opportunities, officials do not care much as long as the fat cheque is in the bank.
