Okahandja Needs Attention

DEAR minister Jerry Ekandjo and permanent secretary, we hope this will reach your office as authorities in charge of local government on Okahandja municipality issues.

The municipality of Okahandja has failed to play its role as we witness them doing in Windhoek, Tsumeb, and Otjiwarongo. The Okahandja town and location does not give the picture of the clean Namibia we know. This simply means that it is very dirty. The absence of services rendered by the municipality are visible at the Okahandja graveyard in town and in the location.
The municipality of Okahandja never provides facilities for our children in the form of a swimming pool or playground in order to keep our children busy during weekends and holidays. As a result, alcohol abuse, prostitution and pregnancy at a young age are common because the youth believe in what they see.
There are shebeens all over the location, thus promoting crime, violence against children and women abuse. We do not expect this in a new Namibia where the future lies with the youth for the development of our country.
In fact, our kids deserve the best. It is not a privilege or a favour to raise them well, but it’s a right.
Therefore we accuse the chief executive officer and his staff. We need an investigation into this matter and corruption.
When it comes to jobs, it’s an insult that connections to certain people are needed. Even cleaning positions are occupied by people from other towns as if we do not have people who can clean in Okahandja.
When people get married in Okahandja, they have to travel to Windhoek in order to take photos in the Parliament Gardens.
