The Doomsday Joke

DECEMBER 21, 2012 - Some religious societies believe in the end of the world on that day and the beliefs are more of a catastrophic destruction of the world to mark the end as we perceive it. People’s minds have been filled with misinformation and confusion about the way the world will actually end.

This is not the first time that an actual date has been ‘prophesied’ about the impending doom! Remember the year 2000 and then again year 2002-2003. Firstly there were reports that computers will fail to function after the year 2000. Well what happened? They said again the end of the world which was supposed to take place on 31 December 1999 had been re-predicted to be actually in 2002 - 2003 with the collision of an interstellar planet called Nibiru and planet Earth.
The truth of the matter is that this date, 21 December 2012 is simply the last day in a Mayan calendar before they start the new Mayan calendar cycle. This cycle is about 5,126 years (5125.36 to be exact) in the Mayan calendar. This calendar began in 3114 B.C. and will end 21 December 2012.
While our modern calendars are based upon the time it takes the earth to revolve around the sun, the Mayan calendar is based upon the earth’s position in the galactic alignment of our galaxy.
The scriptures precisely quote the Son of God as saying “But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only. - Matthew 24:36.
So why are people worried? You should only be worried if you still have not recognised your creator and the one whom he sent to call you from oblivion.
