In the first place I want to congratulate Swapo for the manner and spirit in which they implemented the internal election for a vice-president. May it serve as an example for the ever “agitated” youth in future.
During the campaign, I took note of a newspaper report which indicated that you, inter alia, at a meeting in Otjiwarongo, said that if God wants you to be the vice-president, he will allow it. That is also my point of departure, according to my political science viewpoint, namely that God is the origin of all power. This includes the fact that everyone who is in a position of power, is accountable to Him in the first place, for what they do.
It remains our main target to improve human and group relations in line with what your name implicated, namely “God” and “peace”.
Therefore, it is important to your party to do away with all legislation or policies which are widening the gap between “us” and “you”.
Just as you were appointed on merit, it will remain your biggest challenge to create equal opportunities on merit and to do away with an ad hoc quota system based on our diverse composition.
Not all religions and beliefs accept it that their god is the origin of all power.
Ironically, enough they make use of the Christian’s “second command” to support their view of achieving human rights and peace. I quote:
“* Christianity : Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do you even so to them: for this is the Law and the Prophets Matthew 7:12
* Judaism: What is hateful to you, do not do to your fellowmen. That is the entire law; all the rest is commentary. Talmud, Shabbat 31a
* Confucianism: Surely it is the maxim of loving-kindness: Do not unto others that you would not have them do unto you. Analects 15,23
* Islam: No one of you is a believer until he desires for his brother that which he desires for himself. Sunnah
* Brahmanism: This the sum of duty: do naught unto others which would cause you pain if done to you. Mahabharate 5,1517
* Buddhism: Hurt no others in ways that you yourself would find hurtful. Udana-Varga 5,18
* Taoism: Regard your neighbour’s gain as your own gain and your neighbour’s loss as your own loss. T’ai Shang Kan Ying P’ien”
May you see it as your challenge to achieve peace and stability in Namibia based on the principles above. May God bless you!
