Forget Fake Christmas
CHRISTMAS is coming; it is very close by already.
Plenty of preparations still have to be concluded and each and everything, each and everyone begs not to be forgotten – it’s the same as every year before it, isn’t it? Please, let us make a difference this year; let us remember also those who are so seldom remembered during these times of joy and festivities.
Let us remember the frail and old, the sick and disabled, those with little or no money at all. Let us remember those who were hurt this year, those who got robbed or raped, those who perpetrated crimes and are now forgotten behind bars and all those who lost a dear one and are still full of tears and sorrow. Also, let us remember those who are regarded as second-class humans in our country because they sell their bodies, the homosexuals who are harassed by those who consider themselves ‘normal’ and this even so if they beat their wives and children mercilessly. Let us remember them! And let us pray for them!
And if we pray for them, we, at the same time, will pray for us all. Oh yes, there may be the day that we, too, will live forgotten by our society, as our society forgets so easily.
We would like to forget those who are out of work, those others regard as unemployable and even as lazy and as a burden to this society. It is easy to forget that the society, which includes you and me, has to be punished because the society did nothing to prevent them becoming unemployable. So, let us remember this well! None of us stood up to protest against the introduction and maintaining of an education system that cannot work for Namibia – it’s horrible results we see every day if we go around with our eyes open.
Let us not forget that if we translate the word Christmas, the true translation is LOVE. It was because of love that Christ was born, there was no other reason at all. Therefore, if you cannot love all those I mentioned above, there is no true Christmas for you. There will only be a fake Christmas, don’t ever forget that, please!
