I made a claim by showing the receipt and was refunded 6 days later. The following day I went into Fruit & Veg and used the express machine in their shop, this time there was no money only a receipt showing the amount requested and a $0.00 dispensed, I later found out this money had again been deducted from my account.
I phoned Bank Windhoek’s main branch in Windhoek to complain about the service only to be told to go to my branch in Swakopmund and make a claim, as procedure must be followed.
I was told at the bank that the claim plus my receipt would have to be sent to Windhoek as the express ATM’s are controlled from there.
I’m still waiting for my refund. I also went to buy bread at W&B but had no money on me so I looked at the express ATM in the shop which was out of order, so I walked over to Fruit & Veg and tried to withdraw $50 only to have the machine give me a receipt showing a code transmission error. I then walked to the big ATM nearby - this machine had e a screen notice saying not more than 40 bills could be paid out, so I tried again to get $50 only to get the same notice again. I then drove to Ocean View Spar where I got my $50 from the ATM, and bought bread.
It is at times like these when I long to have the old days back when cash wages were paid and we only went to the bank to put money into a savings account and all purchases were made with cash.
