We don’t need people who will put Namibia back at war through instilling fear in those who want change. What we want at the end of the day is to go forward with progress and not backwards because of fear of the unknown.
I thought Namibia had made inroads in democracy; and that it was worth looking back at the time when Swapo seemed to have found a way out of the sectarian division created by the white minority rule, but it appears the former slaves of Apartheid have become the new masters of divide and rule. We are no longer led by the original ideals of freedom of expression and freedom of association; we are now led by lions in sheepskins. Namibians need to realize that very soon if Swapo’s secret intentions are realized we will be in much more anarchy than we can imagine.
Swapo must stop apportioning blame to opposition parties; the fire is in its own courtyard. Erastus Negonga is sacked, which is good, let all those who have stolen or underperformed go! But if Swapo continues with its misdirected ethnic cleansing of people who are critical thinkers (Nghiwete, Ndali Kamati) but mistaken for RDP, I guarantee you that the end of Swapo is nigh.
Even an infant knows that the fundamental division is not between Swapo and the opposition, it’s between Swapo itself. It appears to me that it has become practically impossible in the echelons of Swapo to judge between enemy and sound critics, even in their own party. Please Minister Kaapanda, we know it takes more courage to retreat than advance, but consider retreating for the sake of your own image. I don’t think it is proper for Swapo to use the NBC to share its deepest fears and nightmares.
Keep your fears to yourself, but share your inspiration with others. We know the trick that Swapo is using; it is only tyrants who will always stir up some rumour of war in order to deceive people that they need a messiah in the name of Swapo.
