Tjiriange's Swapo Campaign

ALLOW me space in your good newspaper in our country. I'm a Namibian citizen who likes peace and respect the rule of Law.

I want to express my disappointment with the speech of the minister

without portfolio, Ngarikutuke Tjiriange on April 27, 2004 at the

Swapo office at Kandjengedi Township in Oshakati.

Ernest Tjiriange warned Swapo supporters against

ìinfiltration by the opposition parties and threatened that

Swapo was 'unbeatable' because 99 percent of the Namibian Defence

police force and National Central Intelligence Service Agency are

members of Swapo's former army, the Peoples' Liberation army of

Namibia.

'We know what goes on under each bed in this country'.

I'm very disappointed to hear Tjiriange claiming that such

security forces are tools at the disposal of Swapo party.

This is a campaign with state funds.

And he must make a distinction between Swapo party and the

Government.

Article 17 and 21 of our constitution states that everyone has

the right to participate in political activity.

I don't want to remind Tjiriange that he was a minister of

Justice and he was removed from this position.

I know that the next President if is honest will not give a post

to Tjiriange.

Tjiriange should know that Namibian security forces are paid by

taxpayers money.

Everyone in this country pays tax to the state whether it is a

Swapo or opposition member.

If they want to campaign, they can use money from their

party.

The time has come for every Namibian to cross the river now.
