Outrage From Khorixas

I AM a resident of Khorixas. What happened recently concerning the rape of the two-year-old baby girl was shocking.

You know the house that those people live in is not a house - it is

a shack built with tar paper.

I urge the public to please donate zinc sheets for those people

to build a proper home for themselves.

Please Namibian people, I plead that we feel the pain those

people are feeling and be good Samaritans.

Furthermore I am not happy with the Namibian law how it is

handling the cases here in Khorixas.

Every time a person is raped, we march and protest for the

rapists to be given stiff sentences, but nothing happens.

Those men get out (of jail) and do the same thing again.

Concerning the strike we did ask for the learners from all

schools to be given time off, but the Director felt he couldn't let

them go.

What if the learners staying in the location are the next

victims of this brutal crime - what then? The Director of Education

should know that what happens in the society of our town affects us

all.

When all the other Ministries gave permission to their employees

he said no.

This means he does not have sympathy towards our society.

He should feel the pain together with us.

Note: Your appeal for people to help those living in dire

circumstances is important, and better-off Namibians should care

more about their compatriots.

However, there's no reason why protests can't take place after

working/school hours.

Our productivity/education levels are also important, and people

should surely be able to give of their free time to demonstrate if

they feel the issue is important enough - Ed
