Swapo's leadership crisis

I AM writing this letter to air my views regarding the ongoing leadership crisis in the Swapo party.

It seems whoever opposes Sam Nujoma is unpatriotic and is fired or

humiliated as in the case of Ben Ulenga, Hage Geingob and now

Hidipo and Kaire Mbuende.

Nujoma on his part wants Hifikepunye Pohamba to be the president

because he wants to control him behind the scenes.

Nujoma wants to be glorified if not to be worshipped by every

Namibian.

He wants to get credit for everything.

He wants to increase his popularity by blaming his failures on

minority white people.

He wants everything he says to be absorbed without

criticism.

He wants to control the media.

My favourite newspaper, The Namibian, fell out of favour with

him because it did not succumb to his demands.

In my opinion Hidipo Hamutenya was the right person for the

President's job, the man has a vision and wants to create a Swapo

that is transparent, irrespective of tribal lines etc.

With Pohamba, it is just not right that a person with limited

foreign experience and little credit to his name wants to take the

most challenging job in the country.

As for President Nujoma and his thinly disguised hatred towards

whites, I have to say that in a multiracial society one race can

not develop a country.

It failed here during the dark days of colonialism, it failed in

Uganda, it failed in south Africa, America and it is failing

elsewhere.

Namibia needs white people in order to prosper especially in

vital economic fields of mining, agriculture and fishing.

Nujoma has a tendency of humiliating his opponents when the

going gets tough on him.

He now accuses Hidipo of working with imperialist powers to

undermine his rule; accuses him of leading a campaign to extend the

northern border into Angola as well as gun running.

Non politicians who try to highlight the failures of the

government are publicly tarnished.

It was up to Swapo Congress to elect leaders with good qualities

to lead this country.
