As we are now facing the presidential election, I do not agree with
what some politicians are 'preaching' to the nation and I am not
mentioning names.
I am sure that some of the leaders were leaders during the
colonial era.
They used to be in power and served as heads of the government
or were close to Mr Botha, FW de Klerk - the experts in
colonising.
Now, I am asking what did they (the Namibian leaders that time)
do for the nation in terms of upgrading the country's development
since they were in power? I wonder what their answers would be
like: we helped build universities, hospitals and clinics,
technical institutions, sport stadiums, water canals throughout the
country, youth and rehabilitation centres etc.
They did nothing apart from allow our people to be killed and to
suffer and remain uneducated and divide the nation.
I wonder why such leaders want to rule the country again.
How can somebody say 'if you people vote for me I will give you
all the services you'll ever want'? This is the same person
talking, the one who was in power before the year 1990, the one who
failed to build the country.
We, the Namibians, should not be naive like children when it
comes to presidential elections.
We have to look at the past and at the present.
There are some parties (leaders), which will never build the
country.
They'll only destroy, bring tribalism and nepotism as they used
to do those days with their South African friends.
So we should be careful when casting our votes.
I do not want a fake leader in our country, I want a leader who
cares and leads the nation as a whole, a leader who will never sell
our economy for nothing as one of the political leaders did during
the colonial times.
We need a leader who will really try to upgrade and take the
country to a crest of development, a leader who will continue fight
against racism, tribalism, vandalism, theft and keep the country's
political and social stability.
I wish all the selected presidential candidate all the best in
campaigning but they must be truthful when they do so.
Tell the nation your (the party's) real works.
State clearly how well have you and your party been working for
the nation from the past to date.
I wish the voters all the best in making good decisions when
voting.
