Miss Namibia Finalist Does Do Charity Work

FOLLOWING my letter to The Namibian last week about Miss Namibia finalist Thea Heesakkers and how she had spoken about wanting to help the people on the street if she is crowned Miss Namibia, I have received a written response from her.

The response details charity work that she is involved in -

including the Paul Einbech project, which is, she says, aimed at

creating jobs for street people, and Pastor Hakizimona's street

child project.

I was unaware that Ms Heesakkers was already involved in such

work as the story in The Namibian on Friday May 28 2004 did not

mention this and nothing was said about her wanting to continue

doing such work and giving more profile to this worthy cause.

My apologies to Ms Heesakkers for not having the full

information before I submitted the letter and accused her of being

insincere and paying lip service to the homeless.

As she did not leave any telephone numbers in her letter, I

would like her to contact me at tel: (061) 242 216 so that I can

find out more about the projects in which she is involved.
