Just Start!
The best place to start is wherever you are today.People often ask me the same thing when pondering a problem, planning a goal or trying to change something.

“Where do I start?”
Problems and goals often seem so big and overwhelming that people are scared off before they even begin. The same goes for making changes. Often it just seems like far too great an effort and people would rather settle for second best because it’s more comfortable and less risky.

My first bit of advice, as simple as it may sound, is always the same – just start!

It’s so important to just get started. Often taking action and getting started gets the ball rolling, so to speak, and before you know it, you’re well on your way to solving your problem, reaching your goal and making some positive changes in your life.

Stop looking for excuses, stop looking for the easy way out and stop lounging around thinking about things. Start taking some action and get moving.

The next thing I tell people follows the saying, ‘as long as you’re moving in the right direction, the size of your steps does not matter.’

So the trick is to first get moving and then to keep taking steps in the right direction, even if they’re baby steps.

It’s often best to start small. Break down a big problem into many small ones and keep going at them one at a time. Eventually, before you know it, you will have solved what you once thought to be a colossal and impossible nut to crack.

A mountain climber doesn’t physically get to the top of a mountain by only thinking about it and he certainly does not get there by doing it in one large leap. He starts at the bottom and slowly makes his way to the top, step by step. Every step in the right direction, no matter how small, brings him closer towards his goal.

In the same respect, if you want to make some major changes in your life, then start now. It need not be mind-blowing and earth-shattering moves, but just something small to indicate a start and to encourage you to go on.

To the question of your life, you are the only answer. To the problem of your life, you are the only solution.
