SPRING SCHOOL TIME … Marietjie Katthage, Educational Officer at the Michelle McLean Children Trust (MMCT) and Elzita Beukes, Communication Practitioner: Stakeholder Engagement at Bank Windhoek with some of the learning materials for the MMCT/Bank Windhoek Spring School.
The Michelle McLean Children Trust (MMCT) will host its 13th consecutive Spring School with financial support of N$155 131 from the Bank Windhoek Social Investment Fund, the main sponsor of the Spring School.
This year, the school programme will be held in Keetmanshoop from 19 to 24 August and in Windhoek from 19 to 30 August. Last year, the school programme was taken to the regions of Caprivi, Kavango and Oshikoto.

A total of 494 learners are expected to benefit from this year’s Spring School which offers holiday tutorials for Grade 10s and 12s, helping to prepare them for the national examinations written in October and November each year.

Pupils who attended the programme in the past have demonstrated a dramatic improvement in their results, particularly in subjects like Mathematics and Biology.

Subjects that will be taught are Physical Science, Mathematics and Accounting for Grade 10 pupils, while Physical Science, Mathematics, Biology, Geography and Accounting will be offered to Grade 12s.

“Bank Windhoek is happy with the results of the Spring School and will therefore continue to partner with the Michelle McLean Children Trust to give pupils the opportunity to be trained by the best teachers to prepare for the final examinations and improve the quality output of learners in our schools,” said Elzita Beukes, Communication Practitioner: Stakeholder Engagement at Bank Windhoek.

“The Michelle McLean Children Trust would like to thank Bank Windhoek for their support over the last 13 years. The MMCT remains committed to the youth of Namibia by improving their quality of life, providing them with basic education and encouraging them to realise their full potential and become productive citizens of our country,” said Marietjie Katthage, Educational Officer at MMCT.
