SMS Of The Day * THIS nation is in dire need of a massive conference on housing. When we experienced a crisis in the education sector a crisis-control brain-storming conference was organised which resulted in the best deal ever for the Namibian child, nam
Food For Thought * BOURGEOISIE has become a daily occupation if not the order of the day of the upper-echelons, President Hifikepunye Pohamba we urge you to revisit this unpatriotic geocentricism among your staff and the well-connected, for everybody to r
Bouquets And Brickbats * COMMISSIONER of Prisons, can you please explain the strategies you use to appoint officers to certain positions? It is my observation that you are being fed with wrong information then you just promote individuals without making p
SMS Of The Day * I THINK Paulus ‘The Rock’ Ambunda lost his belt because of this promoter and trainer. How can a world champion still be training at the Katutura Youth Complex where there is not enough equipment. I think they must follow the example of Ha
Food For Thought * NAMIBIA Dairies are unable to match low prices of imported milk and this ultimately means the consumer will have to pay more for local milk. Look at the prices of the local chicken. All these profits are going in the pockets of a few in
Bouquets And Brickbats * I AM pleased to hear that Cabinet has responded positively to the proposal of Namibia Dairies to support the industry. The restrictions which support the industry by reducing competition to ensure the survival of the industry is a
SMS Of The Day * CEO’s golden handshakes. Somewhere on our statute books there must be a provision that if a board of directors suspends/dismisses a CEO without due regard to legal provision (substantive/procedural law) such board must carry the costs for
Food For Thought * JACKY Asheeke was so right with her last column- why are the fathers of the dead children not being prosecuted? (Reference to the children who died in shack fires last week) Our justice system still protects men over women. In this cont
Bouquets And Brickbats * ALEXACTUS Kaure, your column in Friday’s newspaper opened my eyes. One hardly finds impartial case study analysers in Namibia. Let’s not destroy the Polytechnic’s strong foundation (Tjivikua) as yet. At least wait until the transf
SMS Of The Day * WHY doesn’t NBC listen when they are criticised? The little red chairs on Good Morning Namibia have done their part and are dirty especially at the arm rests. Please listen for once. You interview professionals and internationals on those
Food For Thought * MINISTRY of Education, in order to address the shortages of teachers at primary schools why don’t you consider employing us who hold a diploma in lifelong learning and community education for teaching posts? We also did health education
Bouquets And Brickbats * MY fellow Namibians, I am not a Swapo member but a third term for President Hifikepuye Pohamba will be a step closer towards attainment of Vision 2030. Believe me His Excellency has made crucial bold decisions, and I don’t regret

Shooting suspects appear in court

Can we please avoid hasty comments and allow the investigation to yield the real facts, which, to my view, would also be one-sided because the deceased will not be there to give his side of the story. Unless of course, the said female who was with the suspect will be bold enough to tell what she saw or what she knows. Did the suspect have previous issues with the deceased before this fateful day.....maybe? Does the female companion know something? Can she talk without fear? Remember that in many situations where one of the parties is no more, the suspect will always embellish their story. I am not saying the suspect is guilty no, I am just stating that those who saw what happened or who know the real truth behind the shooting should assist the investigators by telling what they saw or what they know.    Oops there you again. To the Namibian civilians. Start respecting the men in uniforms especially you the so called Kwaitos in the street. You dnt want to go to school just to wonder in the streets and insulting grown ups. Get life and go study. Mamba. - Worriesome

If the case is of self defence than i dont see anything wrong cause the man was at the time defending him self just like any one would do and that man was trainend to kill. lets leav everything in judgese hands. - maslango

Its really shameful for our officer members to react in that way bt Civillians should also start respecting our members in Uniform infact they ar trainned to kill, so dont make a mistake to prove the situation, we mus look to both sides, who knws....may b they were tryng to defend themselves especialy the NDF one, i saw him on NBC news in the morning, he might loose his eye permanently. - Deon

Why is the world so cruel? It is a shame that our own nation protectors are the ones pointing guns to the nation. - Sasher

this nugers must just go to prison and thats it..or a life for a life..to hell with this so called polie officers and soldiers who think they can roam around killing innocent civilians just like that..if you want to be killing people then you should start with those that you gave life to or you start with your brothers and sisters. fuck them. - Savimbi

Based on what i observed, UNIFORM gave more power to this pple, they think they own everything.Officers do speak to Professorr rudely even, because they (professors) do not have uniform, but thats not how it suppose to be. They are not humble at all. Teach them their levels....... Stop mistreating, injuring & killing pple and remember the JUDGEMENT DAY will come. - NDF

People are totally different when they are at home and when they are at bars or on the streets. A person will break into your house, and when caught, act as if were you that were the one braking in.... Who are we to judge, you are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Let the law takes it's cause and may the truth prevails. Incidents like these ones should be a lesson to us. It could have been me or you that could have been in this situation. Let's learn from this experience and see how we can educate ourselves and our Nation to reduce crime. - driesie

Nahas, send them away if they want to kill ,where is the war but not in our country we want to live in peace tog , they must kill themselves and go to hell. - mirjam

why is it always a big issue if a member of the security force was involved in a murder case, how was that soldier injured whe should always look on both sides.maybe it was self defence and how many soldiers were not killed in Otjiwarongo and it was not a big deal.We Namibians should stop judging members of the Security Forces nobody is perfect. - maria

its not all about the Minister to talk to the soldiers, let's be logic and be realistic. does noes not mean the Honorable is not addressing his soldiers, this is happening at bars and not at work. the same thing happens when our parents talk to us at home and we go do things deferent out there!-Klosey - klosey

as a soldier i was trained to kill not to fight and we are very stressed with regrading so make no mistake to provoke the situation, i can die live in prison aslong i eat everyday just like you who is outside. - mavindu

i guess people responsible for this mess are the trainner for our safety member they need to be taught, how to deal with civillians of all types not just how to defend themselves on civillians attacked a bottles vs gunners. shame !!!!!!! - shaya

@ GRN, Nahas is their superior, if the belong to me why are they killing people around me then? - Edward

soldiers are also human like others.they have fresh like every body.civilian stop provoking the armed men then you will stay free.internationally law says a soldier is train to fight those who fight against them.then you soldier stop to associate with wrong people at wrong places and at wrong time. - nan

We have turned into beasts without morals thus shifting blames to law makers will not help or do our society any good. Spiritual leaders have to engage their congregations into soul seaching camps and spiritual healing lessons. - Sinfwa Joseph

@Edward, those people do belong to Nahas Angula. Lets not learn to shift blame on other. They also belong to you - GRN

Nahas Angula, talk to your people or send the on a mission somewhere if they want to kill.. we want to leave peacefully. - Edward
