Act Against The Rich
FARMING is a major economic activity in Namibia. How can you evict people and reserve land for conservancies while people have no land to live on and farm?
Land should be distributed to the people fairly and equally. If fencing off of communal land is prohibited, then all the fences must be removed. We cannot allow a situation where the fences of the weak and poor are the only ones being removed while those for the rich, strong and politically well-connected are left intact.
After all, they are the ones who have fenced off large tracts of land. I want to see the Ondonga Traditional Authority taking action against illegal fences and those who have fenced off large portions of land. Remove the fences and let us share the land. You cannot have half of the country squeezed into a small space and expect them to live in peace and harmony.
Please government, do something. We need land. The land issue appears to be a ticking time bomb. I foresee trouble in the near future. The Government should act quickly to rescue the situation but not to evict the people. Or do you think evicting people from the land is a solution? The opposite is the case because the current evictions are creating more problems and fuel tribal conflicts. One Namibia One Nation!
