FEI World Jumping Challenge

THE Namibian Equestrian Federation (Namef) will host the FEI World Jumping Challenge between 24 and 26 August.Windhoek equestrian club Nubuamis Riding Club won the bid to present this prestigious event in 2013.

The show will be judged by international judge Mary Binks from Kenya who is also the Zone IX chairperson.Namibian riders will compete against their counterparts in Mauritius, Kenya, Zambia, Botswana and Zimbabwe.The FEI World Jumping Challenge is being held for the 35th time this year. Namibia achieved the third overall place in 2012.

Alexa Rack, winner of Category A in 2012 will be a strong contender during this year’s event. Kira Rohloff on her very able chestnut Okakambe Ruby, winner of the Category C and Franziska Leinberger on talented Adcon Camelot, winner in the Category B in 2012 will also be strong contenders again.

The FEI World Jumping Challenge offers national riders the opportunity to compete against riders on an international level without having to leave their own country.

The course is a pre-designed FEI course and is identical world wide. Three performance levels are offered. Category A over 1,20 metres, Category B over 1,10 metres and Category C over 1,00 metres.

The challenge is ridden in two competitions over two rounds over different courses in A and B, and one competition over four rounds with different courses in Category C.

In addition, Nubuamis Riding Club will offer young riders the opportunity to qualify for the 2014 Youth Olympic Games which will be held at Nanjing, China in 2014.
