Oberholzer racks up the records

ZANRE Oberholzer achieved the highest Fina points by a Namibian swimmer since 1996 at the 15th Fina World Championships which finished on Sunday.

Competing in the 200m Backstroke, Oberholzer broke her own Namibian 13/14 year and Open record of 2:19,76 by more than five seconds with a time of 2:14,52.
At the same time she obtained 784 Fina points for this event, which is the most Fina points ever obtained by a Namibian swimmer since the leading marks started getting recorded in 1996.

Oberholzer finished 27th out of 54 swimmers overall in the Women’s 200m Backstroke. Oberholzer also set a new Namibian 13/14 and Open record of 1:03,36 in the Women’s 100m Backstroke, breaking her previous record by 2,58 seconds.

She finished 34th out of 50 swimmers in the 100m Backstroke, while she obtained 771 Fina points for this event.

With these times she also qualified for the World Youth Olympics in both events with ‘A’ qualifying times.

Oberholzer also swam the ‘B’ qualifying time for the Fina World Championships, while she also made last year’s ‘B’ qualifying time for the London Olympics.

Daniela Lindemeier improved her 100m Breaststroke time by 1,42 seconds to a 1:12,06, thereby improving her own Namibian Open record. She came 44th overall while her Fina points amounted to 715. In the 200m Breaststroke Lindemeier narrowly missed out on her Open record by 0.38 seconds. She finished 33rd overall out of 36 swimmers in and obtained 696 Fina points. -namibiasport.com.na
