Kunzle wins Show Jumping Champs

OVER SHE GOES ... Nadine Flemming and her horse Seeis Eymet competing at the National Show Jumping and Dressage Championships over the weekend.
ANNETTE Kunzle and her horse Rostok Ritz Rolling Thunder won the FNB Namibia Open Intermediate Champion title at the National Show Jumping and Dressage Championships in Windhoek over the weekend.
Strong winds which blew through the capital on Sunday made the championships all the more challenging for the riders and horses.

The morning’s events started with the third and final dressage test and high scores were achieved by the children, led by Tara Hein on her horse Gloorwin Max Havelaar.

The pair ended the day by being crowned the FNB Namibian Children’s Dressage Champion. The reserve champion was Nadine Flemming on her horse Ginger.

The FNB Namibia Novice dressage championship was contested by eight competitors and Stephanie Rexrodt, on her horse Quintessa, achieved top honours, followed by Gesa Flemming on Seeis Shelton.

Alexandra Rohl was crowned the FNB Namibia Advanced dressage champion on the impressive stallion So Cool from the Alpha stud.

Despite the windy conditions on Sunday the competitors entered the arena for the third time following the Welcome Stakes and Speed competitions held on Saturday.

The top riders put their horses over jumps designed and built by the FEI accredited course builder, Cord Cordes from the Bodenhausen stud, whilst the chief judge, Detlev Voigts, ensured the smooth organisation of the competition.

The FNB Namibian Novice show jumping champion trophy for the category 90cm – 1.10m, was awarded to Suleika Hasse on her horse Windhoek Cable Accessories Carla from the Bodenhausen stud. They completed two clear rounds and a clear in the jump off in the competition over two rounds, as well as an excellent performance the previous day.

The Reserve Champion award went to M & A’s Caskari ridden by the extremely competent Michelle Kunzle.

The FNB Namibian Open Intermediate show jumping event, for the category 1.20m, saw the top Namibian riders Franziska Leinberger on Adcon Camelot, Salom Nghinamito on Bastos Bodenhausen Inkognito and Annette Kunzle on Rostock Ritz Rolling Thunder in the arena.

Conditions were becoming incredibly difficult for course builders, horses and riders with jumps being blown down. However, the show went on and a controlled performance by Annette Kunzle resulted in her being adjudged the FNB Namibia open intermediate champion for 2013.
