How Appreciative are We?
So many times we tend to take for granted the things we have. Our parents go to the ends of the earth to ensure that we are happy, that we go to the best schools and that we get the best, but do we ever thank them for all this? Do we ever take the time to appreciate the little we have?
Teenagers fall under a group of people with endless wants. They want everything modern, they believe that they should always keep up with the times, not understanding how difficult it is for their parents to provide them with all their wants. Do these teenagers ever wonder: Is the type of phone I have really that important? Can my parents even afford it? Many teenagers only care about themselves. This is wrong, considering the fact that there are people out there whose parents cannot afford to put them in school. Some children have go to school barefoot, while others don’t even have clothes, yet you complain because you don’t own a smartphone.
At times, we hardly realise how many children long to have the kind of lifestyles we have. Do yourself a favour, put yourself in those children’s shoes. How does it make you feel to know that people are suffering but their lives still go on? Take the time to think about all the things your parents ever did for you, everything they ever gave you. Think about all the sacrifices they make to ensure that your wants are fulfilled. Now compare your life and the lives of those children, what differences do you notice? Is what you have not good enough?
Your parents deserve appreciation. You should be grateful for everything you have. Instead of worrying about what you don’t have, cherish what you already own and most importantly, learn to thank your parents for everything they do for you and give you. They deserve that much.
