PoN partners with Tokyo Metropolitan University and CPUT
Staff Reporter
The Polytechnic of Namibia recently established formal collaborative relationships with two internationally renowned universities, further expanding the institution’s international footprint.
PoN has entered into an agreement with the Japanese-based Tokyo Metropolitan University (TMU) and the South African-based Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT).
Through the agreement between the PoN and TMU, the Graduate School of System Design and the Faculty of System Design at the Japanese institution and the Namibia Institute of Space Technology (NIST) will collaborate in the areas of research and academic exchange. The two institutions will cooperate in the exchange of teaching staff and researchers, graduate and undergraduate students, conduct joint research activities and exchange academic materials, publications and information.
The agreement between the Polytechnic and CPUT will see the School of Engineering at the Namibian institution and the Department of Electrical Engineering at the South African institution cooperate in a range of areas including curriculum development, faculty, staff and student exchanges and joint research activities.
“We are very pleased to be partnering with such prestigious and internationally renowned institutions, and we look forward to long and mutually beneficial relationships between the Polytechnic and TMU and CPUT respectively,” Proffessor Tjama Tjivikua said.
The establishment of the cooperative relationships with TMU and CPUT respectively is a continuation of the PoN’s strategy of internationalisation of education as the institution continues its effort to benchmark itself with top international universities.
