Ras Sheehama to celebrate birthday with launch of foundation
Rukee Kaakunga
This foundation, which will be known as the Ras Sheehama Foundation will not cater to specific people but will benefit a broad range of community organisations. “We are starting off small in order to show the corporate world what we can do on our own and thereafter we grow,” he says.
The foundation will need aid from the public as well as other donors in the form of money, clothes or even musical instruments that will be distributed to up-coming musicians who are struggling to make it. A gala event is scheduled for September where the foundation will officially be launched. A board of directors, which includes musicians and business individuals is already in existence to oversee the activities of the foundation. Plans to hold bi-monthly charity events are also in the pipeline and all this is aimed at giving back to communities and empowering the poor.
At the pre-launch of the Ras Sheehama Foundation, a birthday bash will be hosted at the Warehouse Theatre on the 26 July. The event will see a variety of performers take to the stage including Sheehama’s daughter Fay, Castro and Etondo, Denise as well as Young Damage.
“If you love live music and if your birthday is also on the 26th but you don’t have anything to do, come to the Warehouse for live music at it’s best,” promises Sheehama.
This event is a way of raising funds for the foundation which is still in it’s infancy. The show starts at 19h00 and tickets are on sale at Computicket, Shoprite and Shoprite Checkers. Tickets are N$50 in advance and N$70 at the door.
