Ten year old Nigerian Zuriel Oduwole makes Forbes history

DETERMINED … Ten year old Zuriel Oduwole is the youngest person to ever be interviewed in Forbes magazine.
Zuriel Elise Oduwole, an amazing 10-year-old of Nigerian-American heritage, has made history as the youngest person ever to be interviewed in Forbes. The interview with the award winning documentary filmmaker, conference speaker and writer is featured in this month’s edition of Forbes Africa.
Despite her young age, Oduwole has been dubbed “the next Oprah Winfrey” due to her experience interviewing business and world leaders. Her most notable interviews have been with the current Presidents of Tanzania, Mauritius and of Malawi – one of Africa’s only two female national leaders and Serena and Venus Williams during their world press conference in Nigeria, in which she received a standing ovation for the thought-provoking questions she asked the tennis superstars. Others are ex-presidents Jerry John Rawlings and John Kufuor of Ghana.

Zuriel has also had a one-on-one interview with Africa’s most successful businessman, Aliko Dangote. Zuriel says she has not been granted an interview by the President of Nigeria because of his busy schedule but hopes to achieve that soon. Zuriel (which is Hebrew for God is my Rock) believes if she can walk a mile, then there are girls who on seeing her work and progress made, would walk a mile and half.

The purpose of Zuriel’s media business is to help re-brand Africa’s image through exposing positive news that is happening throughout the continent. Revamping education development for girls in Africa is another important goal for Oduwole. As far as her own career plans, Oduwole would like to become an Olympic athlete next. In an interview with TV 360 Nigeria she stated she would like to retire at the age of 19!
