No Production, No Money
AFTER the national conference on education, Cabinet directed NIED (National Institute for Educational Development) to review the curriculum to respond to the challenges and needs of the Namibian society.

The new approved curriculum, which is set for implementation come 2015 has reintroduced pre-vocational subjects in secondary phase and a review of the promotion and language policies applicable to both private and government schools.

From the look of things, the new curriculum is a great road map towards revitalising our ailing education system in the country.

We need an education for production not an education for employment because money is the value of one’s production. There is no way Namibians can have money if we do not produce and in the same vein, there is no way we can produce if we are not taught how to produce.

Thumbs up to NIED and the Namibian nation at large for this great idea. However, good ideas may sound great but if not implemented or poorly implemented, they become nothing else but good useless ideas or plans.

Therefore, the effectiveness of this noble plan calls for great leadership and followers at all level of the education fraternity and the home. Everything begins at home.

To realise our vision 2013 and all other developments envisaged in our development plans, we all must put our national interest at the centre of all our activities.

The planning is done, the onus is now on us to make the plan a huge success.
