Top horses to race at Dankbaar
Staff Reporter
THE Otjomapenda Turf Club will host a horse racing event at Farm Dankbaar on Saturday, with about 46 horses spanning nine races.

The main race over 2200m will feature favourite ILL Tanga, owned by Alfred Tjihero and Bernard Kaanjuka, competing against Camden Queen and Peanut, owned by the Christians-Freygang stable from Rehoboth.

During a previous competition that Otjomapenda hosted on 1 June, several of the Tjihero- and Kaanjuka-owned horses dominated their different categories as Titbit won the Maiden 1600m, Distingly Dry triumphed in the Graduation 1600m, Kendal’s Girl won the D-Division 1800m and ILL Tanga was first in the A-Division 2200m. At the July Handicap, hosted by the Naris Club on the 27 July, Titbit was first in the Graduation 1600m Category and Distingly Dry won the Maiden 1000m category. ILL Tanga finished second to Castle Rock from South Africa in the 2400m category, while Kendal’s Girl was second behind Camden Queen. New South African import Tippe Jari, is expected to compete against Shipsmaster, Arethusa, Regal bearing, and Follow my Lead in the 1000m D-Division category.

Kendal’s Girl, Kwaheri, Kings Reef, Le Contessa and Tiger Bliss will meet over the 1800m D-Division in promises to deliver a tough race.

Another mouthwatering prospect awaits in the sprint race over 1000m in the D-Division where Albert’s Princess Diamond Seekers, Raging Bull and Lady in Charge will battle it out for top honours.

Also, Titbit, Distingly Dry, River of Wealth, Deceptive, and Ajaccio will take on favourite Gold and Refined in the 1600m Graduation category. This filly showed her class in Rehoboth when she beat ILL Tanga and Storminateacup.

The event, sponsored by Exco Sport-Namibia, is set out to start at 12h00.
