Oneal
Oneal gets the boot
Rukee Kaakunga
Considered by many as arrogant, bossy and even aloof at times, Motswana housemate Oneal had his Chase cut short as he was evicted on Sunday. Although an entertainer back at home, Oneal spent very little time bonding or creating relationships with his fellow housemates, saving that privilege for his love interest Feza.
The young man played an impressive game, lasting a total 10 weeks in the house. Unfortunately, despite claiming to be able to ‘outplay and out think’ all the other housemates, he failed to make it to the end. We spoke to Oneal to find out about his time in the house as well as his plans for the future …
How does it feel to be back on the outside world?
It feels weird. I’m still getting used to it but I also can’t stop thinking about the house and thinking like a housemate.
Some people saw you as very authoritarian and arrogant, do you think that contributed to your eviction?
You know, I’ve been getting that all morning. A lot of people interpreted my behaviour in the house in their own way and a lot of that is perpetuated by social media. I don’t think any adult who applied for Big Brother would allow another housemate to rule or bully them.
Did you expect to fall in-love in the Big Brother house?
No. I was the last person to even think of it. I ended up spending most of my time with Feza and we might have concentrated more on our relationship than the game.
Do you feel like you put yourself and Feza in an awkward position by isolating yourselves from the other housemates?
I think yes. It was very obvious that we didn’t enjoy other people’s company as much as we did our own but Feza is more likely to interact with people that I was.
Do you think, now that you are evicted, that Feza is more likely to be picked on by the other housemates?
Yes. They won’t do it openly but I trust that there were already some unflattering things said about Feza during this morning’s nominations as it was still soon after my eviction and she wouldn’t have had enough time to detach herself from it.
What did you think of the Namibian girls?
I know Maria and have got nothing but love for her. She came across as honest, funny, genuine but I picked up a bit of change in her when she returned from the Diamond house. I couldn’t warm up to Dillish though as I found it very hard to place her.
Who, apart from Feza do you think is more likely to walk away with the grand prize?
Angelo. He has managed to win everyone over and he is the most neutral person in the house. Also, he has found love in the arms of a Nigerian girl who also happens to be Head of House at the moment so he is very safe for now.
Where to from here?
I want to go back to what I’ve been doing before, which is Club DJ-ing and acting. I plan on moving to South Africa permanently and you might just see me in Namibia soon. I also want to set up a studio and pursue my love for painting.
