Clemans Miyanicwe
TWO mothers whose children burnt to death in a shack fire last Friday appeared in the Gobabis Magistrates’ Court for culpable homicide yesterday. Two of the children children, Ndjitiza (4) and Vaja (6) Kambapani, died in the fire while the third one, Hitjiva Kazeurua escaped with facial and leg burns.
Hitjiva, who is said to be in a stable condition, was admitted at Gobabis State Hospital after the horrifying incident.
Magistrate Alweendo Venatius granted Melpa Kambapani (26) and Natasha Kazeurua (20) N$1000 bail each. He postponed the case to 4 October for further police investigation and for the women to seek legal representation.
The magistrate further transferred the case to Leonardville Magistrates’ Court.
Police on Sunday said Kazeura and Kambapani locked up their children in a shack around 20h00 when they went to a bar, leaving a candle burning. It is suspected that the candle caused the fire between 22h00 and 23h00.

what a very bad move from this two laidies. only God knows why they had the guts to lock up the poor innocent kids and go lock for alcohol. guys please see to it before you impregnate a laidy that she is not an alcohol addict because they are capable of doing the most cruel things to their babies. may their innocent souls rest in peace-Election Elishi - Election Elishi
It's just so wrong and irresponsible to leave someone (a child for that matter) in a locked room. It's not safe at all, because anything can happen within those few minutes or hours that you are not around.
Was the alcohol really worth the poor kids' lifes?
My fellow citizens please let's learn from this sad incident and let's make responsible decisions, ALWAYS.
