Have More Roadblocks
I WISH to express my concern regarding the valuable lives of our people lost on Namibian roads, especially on the known dangerous roads like the Okahandja to Otjiwarongo road.

I have a terrible feeling when thinking of the many lives that have been lost on that road, mostly in head-on collisions and the number of people who were burnt to ashes inside wreckages of the cars. These deaths could have been avoided.

I wish to make a proposal that the government and all stakeholders responsible for the safety of our roads [Roads Authority, NaTis, MVA Fund, Ministry of Transport, RCC and others I may have left out], cut speeding of motorists by setting up roadblocks every few kilometres with at least three officers stationed there.

Members of the National Youth Services or unemployed school dropouts like Grade 10 and 12 can be recruited to man these roadblocks for not so big salaries at least for a year. It is better than having the MVA pay out a lot of money for injuries occurring on the roads.
